Industry support that matters.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges for fitness, health, and wellness facilities across the state of California—-and we will continue to feel its impact for years to come.

Despite providing crucial health and wellness services to our communities, our industry is often overlooked for funding and assistance opportunities, which are more commonly granted to industries such as restaurants, bars, and retail.

As a result, the creation of the CASFFA aims to bridge this gap by advocating for greater representation and providing essential resources that our industry deserves.

Starting in 2020, the CASFFA has been committed to ensuring that small health, wellness, and fitness businesses, particularly those in their first five years of operation, have equal access to small business funding and resources.

In 2020, the CASFFA identified and secured $100,000 in CARES Act dollars (in partnership with the City of Sacramento) to administer COVID-19 Relief Small Fitness Facility micro-grants to qualifying small fitness facilities located within the City of Sacramento. The CASFFA also partnered with Erica Castillo Consulting and the City of Sacramento to provide small businesses with technical assistance on various topics.

In 2021, The CASFFA awarded grants to 35 small fitness facilities that experienced the most hardship, with an emphasis on facilities located in underserved communities. See the complete grantee list here.

In 2022, The CASFFA awards Microgrants to Fitness, Health & Wellness Small Businesses that provide a physical, mental, or emotional benefit to their community at an affordable/reduced rate to underserved groups. Learn more about the grant recipients here. Thank you to Sutter Health for being a valued sponsor! Additionally, the CASFFA facilitated a five part webinar series for small businesses in partnership with the MetroBusiness Center, the City of Sacramento, and Sacramento County on a variety of legal topics.

In 2023, The CASFFA continues to collaborate with our community partners & government to provide support and resources to small fitness, health & wellness studios affected by the pandemic, as well as increase access to affordable and accessible fitness classes in all communities.
